Things to Keep in Mind for Intern in Germany

When you are Departing from India

• If you are interested in exploring Europe then make your plans earlier only, which countries you want to visit and accordingly buy Eurail passes from India.(Same Eurail becomes more expensive if you buy it from Europe) http://www.eurail.com/home
• Don’t take too much food stuff with you; things are easily available in budget. Here are some supermarkets (Aldi, lidl, rewe, netto).
• Take a two to three pin convertor with you.
• Buy an ISE (International Student Identification) Card, it helps you in availing discounts at many places http://www.isecard.com
• At Airport you will find an ‘i’(information counter),clear your all doubts.
• About SIM,you will find it easily near Airport or Railway station.

While your Stay in Germany

• For local travelling, week end passes are available and are much cheap then normal train ticket, so buy them when you need http://www.bahn.de
• Generally trains are very expensive, so you can also think for Car Sharing, it cost really very less http://www.mitfahrgelegenheit.de/ (local car sharing concept i.e if one person is going from one place to another and he have some vacant seats in his car then he will put it on this website & accordingly you can book via Email or Phone).
• While travelling some country & don’t have any night stay option, search for Gurudwara’s at that particular place, they provide accommodation free of cost.
• To call back at home (India),you can use software tuitalk, it gives 3 calls/day of duration 2 minutes on Indian phone (Free).
• Do Tax Free Shopping-Whatever you purchase, take bills (Printed Bill) of them, while departing you will get your VAT Tax money back after showing the bills at Airport.
